Julie McSpedden is an Australian artist and visual arts educator based on the Redlands Coast, Queensland.
Welcome to my art page. I have always been deeply inspired by nature, particularly birds, which play a central role in my work. My art often recreates both native and imaginary landscapes, with birds symbolizing both the fragility of life and the sense of freedom they embody as they soar through the sky.
Growing up on the Bellarine Peninsula in a rural setting, nature was ever-present in my life. Whether it was chickens or sheep on my parents' hobby farm or the wild birds visiting our property, the natural world has always influenced my creativity. Today, my artistic practice focuses on drawing, painting, and printmaking. I find joy in the tactile qualities of monoprinting and the depth and versatility that drawing and painting offer.
I completed my studies in Visual Arts at RMIT University, where I developed a passion for printmaking and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in this field. In 2005, I furthered my education with postgraduate studies in primary and secondary teaching at Deakin University in Geelong.
